The University of Hull

2020-12-31

Overview
The University of Hull was formed in 1927, making us the 14th-oldest university in England. With a proud history of academic excellence and of creating and inspiring life-changing research, we offer the perfect combination of heritage and high technology, setting us apart from many other universities. Our total student population is more than 15,000 and our international community totals over 1,000 students.

As well as having a number of scholarship opportunities available to our students, the city of Hull has a low cost of living compared to many bigger cities. This means that our students typically have more money to spend on other activities outside of campus, such as travel around the UK.

Our single-site campus contains everything you need. We have invested more than £300 million on new facilities including a world-class library, a superb health campus, a state-of-the-art concert hall and new sports facilities. Most of our student accommodation is now entirely on campus.

We have a silver award in the UK Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework, which recognises excellence in teaching and learning in UK universities and colleges, and we specialise in a wide range of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses. We are in the top 50 UK institutions for research power and our research tackles some of the biggest global challenges, from health to habitats, food to flooding and supply chains to slavery.

An impressive 97.9% of our international students go into work or further study within six months of graduating, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency. Our careers service and alumni keep in touch with current students through a variety of means to ensure our students are well equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workforce on graduating.

Our award-winning students’ union – with more than 150 societies and sports clubs – and our Student Support team – who provide advice on issues including health and wellbeing, visas and immigration, and learning support – will ensure that you get the most out of everything the University has to offer.
We look forward to welcoming you to our diverse, beautiful, green campus.

Location
Hull is a port city and is located in the north-east of England. It lies on the River Hull and is the fourth-largest city in Yorkshire and the Humber.
Just 10 minutes from campus is Hull Paragon train station which has rail links across the country. There are several direct train services to London every day, and you can reach the capital in two and a half hours. We are also served by Humberside International Airport which is 25 minutes by car from campus.
Hull is home to Hull City AFC (the Tigers) who play in the Championship – the second tier of English football. Hull is also home to Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull FC, who play in Super League: the top-level professional rugby league club competition in the northern hemisphere.
