SQA held a series of teaching conferences in China in September to further improve the quality of the UK higher education diploma programme and to improve the programme management and teaching system.
On September 6, 2007, SQA held a teaching seminar in beihang university to set up a make-up examination question bank. The purpose of this meeting is to make the teachers of the project institutions better understand the requirements of compiling supplementary examination questions, and to establish the UK higher education diploma project supplementary examination questions bank in China as soon as possible. Most of the programme institutions sent professional course teachers with more than one year's experience in teaching and internal audit of UK higher education diploma programme units. SQA officials first introduced the significance, requirements and process of compiling the supplementary examination questions, then the participating teachers discussed in groups according to the courses taught, and finally, each project institution confirmed its own subjects and requirements according to the assignment.
September 8-12, 2007 SQA held an ESOL training conference in Shanghai university of finance and economics. The purpose of this meeting is to help the project schools to successfully carry out the SQA ESOL course. Most of the colleges and universities sent English teachers or leaders of English teaching to attend the meeting. During the five-day meeting, SQA ESOL experts focused on the listening, speaking, reading and writing aspects of ESOL, focusing on the evaluation methods and teaching methods of intermediate and advanced ESOL.
Our company attaches great importance to the development of the UK higher education diploma programme and attaches great importance to these two conferences. The teachers of the higher education diploma programme were also actively involved in the preparation of the two conferences and participated in the whole process.
The two meetings achieved good results. The participating teachers communicated and exchanged their ideas on the development of the project with the staff of our company and SQA officials in a timely manner, and welcomed to hold more similar training meetings, so as to strengthen the communication among teachers of the project schools and promote the healthy development of the project
